Tika Hines, age 75 of Salem, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 31, 2021. Tika was retired from the Illinois Department of Corrections after 25 years in the business office. She had also worked for many local Doctors offices. She was a member of the Open Arms Fellowship Church. She enjoyed spending time with her dogs, her family, and her friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Ben Wyant officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Marion County Relay for Life and can be left at Crouse Funeral Home. Survivors include her children, William D. Hines III and wife Kellie Childers Hines of Franklin, GA, Joy Hines Halfacre and husband Danny of Iuka, Deborah Hines Pennypacker and husband Ted of Pryor, OK, and Dr. Cynthia Hines-Murphy of Teaticket, MA; grandchildren, Janelle Hines Taylor and special friend Joe Arrington of GA, William Hines and wife Alyssa of GA, Tamara Wright and husband Rob of OK, Marci Ishcomer of OK, and Sonia Murphy of MA; great-grandchildren, Jackson Taylor, Norah Hines, Kyle Pennypacker, Kelsey Pennypacker, Kason Davis, Kanyon Davis, Travis Davis, Rhiannon Davis and Dalton Davis; and two sisters, Tamme Harper of Salem, and Lana Porter and husband Mike of GA.
Tika was born on February 10, 1946, in Salem the daughter of Marion and Belva Mae (Hayden) Garner. She married William Doss Hines Jr. on October 2, 1971 and he preceded her in death on December 5, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Patrick Hines; grandson, Teddy Pennypacker; brother, Mark Garner; and brother-in-law, Frank Harper.
