2021 10/29 – Mark E. Bond

Mark E. Bond, 67, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away October 25, 2021, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

He was born April 18, 1954, in Mount Vernon to the late Paul and Norma (Friedman) Bond. Mark is survived by his children, Paul Bond and wife, Hillary of Normal, Illinois, Kati Burns and husband, Julian of Mount Vernon, Erin McGee and husband, Shelton of O’Fallon, Illinois, and Maggie Bond of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Olivia Burns, Carter Burns, Caleah Burns, Jaryn Burns, Londyn Bond, Elijah Bond, Harley Bond, Ruby Bond, and Evelyn McGee; brother, Steve Bond and wife, Lynn of Gunnersville, Alabama; sister, Cheryl Morgan of Noblesville, Indiana; former wife, Christie Bond of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

Mark proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a coal miner and truck driver for many years. Mark was a member of the Teamster Local #710, Mount Vernon Lodge 31 AF and AM, and the Shriner’s. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Mark was a devoted Saint Louis Cardinals baseball fan, avid Harley rider, and best friend to his dog, Babe. He will be greatly missed.

A Visitation will be held Friday, October 29, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 pm with Reverend Gary Davenport officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
