The Marion County Health Department is reporting four new COVID-19 deaths during the three-day period ending on Friday. Two additional deaths have been recorded in Jefferson County.
Marion County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says three of the four were not vaccinated including a male in his 60s, a female in her 40s, and a female in her 60s. The fourth death was a male in his 60s who was fully vaccinated. None were long-term care residents. The four deaths bring the total number of deaths in Marion County since the pandemic began to 149.
The Health Department is also reporting 41 new cases of COVID-19 from Wednesday through Friday. Seven of those testing positive were fully vaccinated. Eight are of school age, one is four years old and younger, while on the upper side there was one case in a male in his 80s and one in a female in her 90s. All are on isolation.
There are now 523 active cases in Marion County, including 37 in the hospital. Those in the hospital included six on ventilators. The age range is from an infant under three months, 2 in their 30s, 4 in their 40s, 11 in the 50s, 13 in their 60s, 4 in their 70s, and two in their 80s.
There were 173 released from isolation during the three-day period ending on Friday.
Jefferson County is reporting two new deaths in an unvaccinated male and female in their 60s. During the past three days, Jefferson County is reporting 29 new cases and 52 in isolation.
Clinton County is reporting 41 new positive cases for the week ending Friday. 43 remain on isolation. There were no hospitalizations or deaths during the past week.
Statewide, 15,131 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus were reported in the seven-day period ending on Friday. There were an additional 183 deaths. Statewide, 1,277 were hospitalized from a COVID-19 related issue. Of those 323 were in the ICU and 152 patients were on ventilators
Of Illinois’ total population, more than 69-percent has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, and 54% of Illinois’ total population is fully vaccinated.
