2021 10/30 – Reba May Stover

Reba May Stover, 96, of Centralia passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 in Centralia with her family by her side. Reba enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital for 20 years. Upon retirement, she was a member of the St. Mary’s Auxiliary for 19 years. She loved her two dogs: Brigitte and Maggie. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 2055.

Grave services for Reba Stover will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home. Memorial donations can be made in memory of Reba to the American Cancer Society and can be accepted at Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street in Centralia, Illinois 62801 (618) 532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Stover family. Reba is survived by her five children: Barbara Luttrell and husband Michael Ennis of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Jack Stover and wife Linda of Southaven, MS, Joann Rahm and husband Gerald of Centralia, David Stover and wife Julie of Centralia, and Renea Starr and husband Colin of Centralia; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was born November 18, 1924 in Centralia, the daughter of Herbert and Orpha (Meador) Lowery. She married Dean Stover on December 18, 1939 in Mt. Vernon and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1993 after 54 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents: Herbert and Orpha Lowery, her husband Dean Stover, two sisters: Beulah Glenn and Mable Estock, two brothers: Ray Lowery and Orville Lowery, and one great-grandson Austin Starr.
