For the second time in a week, a fire appears to have been set in a vacant home at 612 North Vine in Sandoval.

Fire Chief Chad Parson says the first fire last week was set on three spots on the exterior of the home and was put out with very minor damage.

Firemen were called back on Saturday evening when an accelerant appears to have been poured inside the back porch. A neighbor reported the fire. Firemen got a quick knockdown as the fire was starting to spread into the rest of the residence.

The State Fire Marshal’s office has been called to investigate.

Sandoval called Odin and the Centralia Fire Protection District for mutual aid at the scene, while the City of Centralia provided station coverage at the Sandoval Fire Station in the event of another fire.

The fire call came in 6:44 Saturday evening.

Parson is encouraging anyone with information on who may be setting the fires to contact the Sandoval Fire Station. He reports village officials are working to get the home torn down.
