Lieutenant Colonel Helen Wells, 96, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Waltonville, Illinois, passed away at 3:20 pm August 30, 2021 at The Vista at Blue Skies of Texas in San Antonio, Texas. Helen proudly served her country as a nurse in the US Air Force for 23 years. She retired in 1973 after serving as a Lieutenant Colonel in Libia, England, and France. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Castroville, Texas. Helen was a lifetime member of the American Nurses Association and a former member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses, National Society of D.A.R., National Society United States Daughters of 1812, Society of Retired Air Force Nurses, and the Retired Officers Association. Helen was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew and adored her.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Knob Prairie Cemetery in Waltonville, Illinois with Father Joel Siepp officiating. Military Honors will be held at the cemetery by Honor Detail from Scott Air Force Base. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Helen’s honor to Knob Prairie Cemetery.
