Janis E. Cooper, 73, of Rockford, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at SwedishAmerican Hospital. She grew up in Salem, IL before going to Southern Illinois University to become a dental hygienist. After graduation she moved to Rockford, IL where she lived the rest of her life. Janis actively volunteered in a variety of roles at the Rockford Public Library and its East Branch Bookshop.
Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rockford Public Library, 6685 E. State St., Rockford, IL 61108.
Survived by her son, Matthew (Alexis) Cooper of Geneva, IL; grandchildren, William, Madeline and Warren; siblings, Kathy (Darrell) Norris, Larry (Carolyn) Simpson, and Ruthann Voelzer; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born July 28, 1948, in Flora, IL, the daughter of William H. and Ruth Imogene Simpson. She was predeceased by her parents.
