Shirley Eugenia Dishinger from Centralia, Illinois was born February 16, 1928, in Cairo, Illinois. Shirley was the daughter of Charles V. Grable and Minnie May Grable. Shirley married Carl F. Dishinger on June 8, 1946, in Pulaski County, Illinois.

Shirley is survived by her sister Charolette Grant of Coulterville, IL one son, Jan Dishinger and wife Cathy of Cape Girardeau, MO, two daughters Laura Feig and husband Cletus of Centralia, Rebecca Wimberly of Centralia, grandchildren, Lori Brown Aud, Christopher Feig and wife Tracie, and Shawn Wimberly and wife Robin, all of Centralia, IL, Michelle Dishinger Messick and husband Brandon of Altus Oklahoma, great-grandchildren, Aimee Aud and Kyle Hall, Haley Aud, Jordan Feig and wife Taylor of Collinsville, IL., and Jessica Feig all of Centralia, Addison Messick of Altus, OK, Maya and Jackson Wimberly of Vandalia, IL, great-great-grandchildren, Carlee and Kyler Hall of Centralia, IL. Several nieces and nephews also survive Shirley.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl, son Michael, daughter-in-law Sherry Dishinger and grandson Scotty, three sisters Barbara Verble, Hazel Bonifield, Dorothy Tolbert, two brothers, Charles and Clarence Grable.

Shirley was involved in several civic activities which include: Election Judge Precinct 16 (35 years), Member and Executive Board Member of Grandparents raising Grandchildren of Centralia, the Centralia Women’s Club, Meadow Woods Country Club, Project Head Start in Cairo, IL, the Foster Parent Program at Murray Children’s Center, member of the First United Methodist Church of Centralia, Girl Scout Leader. In addition, Shirley was the Circle Chairperson (35 years) of Clothing Closet for the First United Methodist Church and helped organize and open the Centralia Community Benevolent Association.

Funeral Services for Shirley Dishinger will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 1:00 PM at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia with Rev. Sydney Davis, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family and the First United Methodist Church in Centralia and will be accepted at the Sutherland-Garnier Funeral Home at 235 North Sycamore Street Centralia, Illinois 62801, (618)532-3523, who is honored to be of service to the Dishinger Family.
