Junior High Sports Roundup: Franklin Park baseball and softball teams post victories

JHBB:  The Franklin Park Bobcats are right back at it this afternoon at home against Teutopolis.  The Lady Bobcats will also host the Wooden Shoes in softball play.  The Bobcats are coming off an 11-4 win over Altamont Lutheran on the road.  Jared Gibson went 3-4 to lead Salem.  Brody Collier had a double and triple, Angel Salgado doubled, Keytin Grawe had 2 hits and 4 runs scored, Evan Barnes was 2-4 with a double.  Eli Lograsso, Cam Carmichael, and Jackson Green added hits.  Collier was the winning pitcher.

The Lady Bobcats improved to 6-3 with their 10-4 win over Patoka.  Marah Johnson with the complete-game win, striking out 5 and adding 2 RBIs. Mya Russell was 3-4 with 3 runs scored.

The SC Falcons will travel to Dieterich while the Lady Falcons are at home against CHBC.  The Falcons improved to 12-0 with their 10-0 win over Sacred Heart Effingham.  Trevan Sidwell was the complete game pitcher allowing 4 hits and striking out 8.  He also doubled 3 times and drove in 2 at the plate.  Colt Cartright also had 2 RBI.  Also driving in runs were Garret Shumate, Hudson Moore, Kadien Harrell.

The Lady Falcons improved to 12-3 with a 17-7 win over Dieterich in Kinmundy.  Emily Rose was the winning pitcher as SC outhit Dieterich 13-10 in the game.  South Central will host CHBC this afternoon trying to stay unbeaten in the NTC at 5-0.

JHXC:  The Franklin Park cross country teams will open up their season today at home with Odin and Selmaville.  The Bobcats are looking to improve on last season’s runner-up finish at state while the Lady Bobcats also qualified for the team event at the end of the season.
