Dorothy Lee Adams, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:54 am on August 28, 2021, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born April 29, 1937, in Mount Vernon, Illinois to the late Clarence and Ethel (Vannetta) Jackson. Dorothy married James Adams on April 21, 1958, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were blessed with forty-six years of marriage before he preceded her in death on June 15, 2004.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Jim Adams and wife, Tracy of Mount Vernon, Illinois; daughter, Laura Kamp and husband, Andy of Loudon, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jackson and William Adams of Mount Vernon, Illinois; Goddaughter, Julianna Dempsey of Alton, Illinois.
Mrs. Adams worked as a teacher and retired as principal from Godfrey Elementary School. She was an active long-time member of East Salem Baptist Church and will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at East Salem Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 12:00 pm with Reverend Randy Hayes and Father Nick Junker officiating. Interment will follow at East Salem Cemetery in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
