The Marion County Health Department has reported three more COVID-19 deaths and 60 new cases on Friday.
All three of the deaths were males in their 70s. Two of the deaths were long-term care residents. One was fully vaccinated and had been in the hospital. The other was not vaccinated. The third death was not a long-term resident and was not vaccinated. There have now been 129 deaths from COVID-19 in Marion County.
There are now 21 cases in the hospital. Three are on ventilators and two are long-term care residents.
Mallow says of the 60 new cases, nine were fully vaccinated. Thirteen of the cases are of school age, three are four years and younger. The health department is characterizing 52 of the cases as community spread and eight as spread from household or close contacts.
There are now six Marion County long-term care facilities in outbreak status and one Marion County school in outbreak status. None of the cases on Friday were linked to the Salem factory outbreak.
There are now a total of 442 active cases. Fifty were released from isolation on Friday.
