The 2021 Miss Marion County Fair Queen is Maggie Telford.
“I was just in shock, oh my gosh, I was so surprised, that’s me, that’s me oh my gosh,” said Telford.
Telford is a 2020 graduate of Salem Community High School and is now studying pre-law while participating on the swim team at Miliken University.
I’ve been dreaming of this since I was a little girl. My father was out here changing my diapers when I was eight months old.”
Telford is the daughter of Doug and Amy Telford. Doug Telford is a long-time fair board member and is currently fair board President.
Maggie Telford was crowned by Grace Beavin of Salem who served two years due to the fair being canceled last year due to COVID.
The first runner-up was Sara Timm, who also won Miss Congeniality, Most Photogenic, and Best Speech and Communication. Brylee Dukes was second runner-up and also Best in Beauty and Physique. Katlyn Hilmes was named Best in Interview.
This is the first year for Karlie Coffee to be pageant director. She says everything went great up to the weather.
“We had honestly ten great candidates. Any of them would have been a great fair queen. They were a dream to work with this summer. We started at the end of May. I did spend my whole summer with all ten of them. It is a fun night when Pagent night comes around because it is kinda like a cherry on top of a great summer.”
Telford will now preside over the rest of the Marion County Fair, represent the county at the State Fair, participate in area parades, and then start prepping for the state competition in Springfield in January.
