Fire consumed a camper parked at 1699 Burks Road in rural Vernon Saturday morning.
A passerby spotted the camper fully engulfed in flames and already through the roof after thunderstorms rolled through the area Saturday morning.
Fire Chief Blake Hyde says no one was around the camper and the ownership was not immediately clear. He reports the roof and sides were totally consumed by flames leaving only the floor in place. As a result of the severe damage, it was not immediately clear what started the fire. A state deputy fire marshal is scheduled to review the fire scene on Monday.
Hyde says there were no problems fighting the fire and no mutual aid was called.
The fire call came in at 10:21 Saturday morning. Firemen were on the scene for about an hour.
