Kids Day at the Marion County Fair returns on Monday following a one-year absence due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Kids of all ages are invited to come to the Marion County Fairgrounds from nine am to two pm on Monday. The coordinator this year, Ag in the Classroom Teacher Meggan Heistand, says everything is free.
“We’re going to have the corn shelling and the rope making. We’ll have all the animals. During Kid’s Day, the cattle show will be going on. New this year, we are going to have a straw maze with an obstacle for the kids which is put on by the South Central FFA. The normal picking of the apples and digging for potatoes. You can milk a cow, goat, or both. Needle in a haystack. Kids will find a needle, turn it in, and win a prize. Free ice cream from Ag in the Classroom. Miracle Rides Merri-Go-Round will start at ten am. They also get a free lunch.”
Heistand says lunch consists of a hot dog, chips, and water. The first 500 kids will also receive a goody bag with information on agriculture and coupons from area merchants.
There will be two registration points this year. The first is at the rear of the free stage and the second on the south end of the sheep barn.
