Governor JB Pritzker says school districts should keep the new masking guidelines from the CDC and Illinois Department of Public Health in mind when developing plans for the new school year.
The Governor says it’s important for schools to devise safety protocols that best fit their particular needs, but then adds this warning:
“Let me clear with everybody. School districts are potentially going to be held liable if they don’t live up to the standard if they do not live up to the stands set by the CDC and the state,” said Pritzker.
Under the latest guidance from the CDC, it’s recommended that all staff, teachers, and students wear a mask inside the school, regardless of vaccination status.
