The Marion County Health Department is reporting one death and 75 new COVID-19 cases from Saturday through Wednesday.
The health department reports the death was a female in her 70s. She had not been vaccinated. She was in the hospital, but not on a vent, at the time of her death.
Of the 75 new cases, only one was fully vaccinated. Four of the cases were linked to the continuing outbreak at a Salem Factory. Eleven of those testing positive were of school age. None were in a long-term care facility. The ages of those testing positive ranged from an infant under nine months of age to a female in her 80s. The health department reports 64 of the cases are considered community spread and 11 the result of household or close contacts.
There are currently 84 active cases, including seven who are hospitalized including one on a ventilator. Thirty others have recovered and been released from isolation during the five-day reporting period.
