Governor JB Pritzker is signing a new law expanding access to telehealthcare in Illinois.
The Governor says the landmark legislation will expand on efforts launched during the pandemic to make sure people could still get medical care.
“The ability to access care over the phone, tablet or laptop makes a world of difference for people in rural communities, single person households, those without a vehicle and families who live far away from their primary health provider or that don’t have one at all.”
The law prevents insurers from requiring an in-person visit before an online visit and increases early intervention services provided through telehealth.
It also requires providers to be reimbursed at the same rate as an office visit for mental health and substance abuse services.
