Salem firemen stand by after a gas line is ruptured

Salem Fire Protection District officials were called Friday afternoon to the Donald Helm home at 126 Woodland where a natural gas line had been ruptured.

Fire officials say Helm was doing landscape work and didn’t realize the old gas line was there.

Firemen stood by until Salem City Gas Crews could turn off the gas without incident.
