The Salem 10u Wildcats are District Champions after winning their tournament in Mt Carmel last night 11-1 over Olney in four innings.
The game was tied at 1 in the middle of the third before Salem scored 7 runs in the game to break it open. Owen Tennyson went 3-4 with 2 RBI. Colten Tockstein also drove in 2 runs along with Jax Schaubert and Rhett Starnes.
Schaubert was injured late in the game when running to first base and stepping awkwardly and broke his leg in two places. A 45 minute delay was held so EMT personnel and the ambulance could be sent. Schaubert was in good spirits last night after his team finished the win, they went to the medical facility to allow Jax to see and take a picture with the banner and celebrate a little with his teammates.
Also driving in runs for Salem were Zane Applegate, Jared Crompton and Drew Consolino. Bentley Bryan went all 4 innings allowing 4 hits and 1 run.
Salem advances to the Brown County Sectional next weekend looking to advance to the State Tournament late July in Ogelsby.
