Fire damaged a Salem home late Tuesday night.
Salem Fire Protection District officials say light smoke was showing from the roof of the Robert Quandt home at Eight Lakedale on their arrival. Firemen were able to trace the problem to an electrical short in the attic which had started a smoldering fire in the blown in insulation. Firemen pulled down the ceiling in the living room to reach the fire and apply foam to the blown in insulation.
The fire was confined to the one area, but there was significant damage to the living room from water and the ceiling being torn down.
The occupants of the home reported the fire just before ten Tuesday night. Firemen were on the scene for about an hour and a half. Odin Firemen were called for automatic mutual aid assistance first to stand by at the Salem Fire Station and later at the scene.
