Salem Police are investigating a burglary at Coaches Corner on West Main Street in downtown Salem.
Detectives say entry was gained through a hatch in the roof sometime early Thursday morning.
The apparent target was a video gaming machine and a cash out machine. However, the video machine had just been emptied and it did not immediately appear that anything had been taken from the machines. However, there was considerable damage to the machine.
Police say some signs were also removed and placed in the dumpster and cases of liquor had been stacked near the back door as if there may have been a plan to come back for the liquor. They say whoever was responsible had stayed in the business for some time and may have left as late as seven
Thursday morning.
Detectives hope they may be able to develop a suspect or suspects once video recording from the video gaming machine is available.
The burglary was discovered late Thursday morning.
