Jefferson County Coroner Roger Hayse has identified the man shot and killed in the parking lot of the Corner Tavern at 19th and Perkins in Mt. Vernon early Sunday morning as 34-year-old Jamarco Foulks of Mt. Vernon.
Hayse says an autopsy conducted on Monday showed Foulks died from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso and extremities. After being treated at the scene, Foulks was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Mt. Vernon Police are continuing to search for a 29-year-old Woodlawn man wanted for first-degree murder and being an armed habitual criminal in connection with the shooting death. Police Chief Trent Page says a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Jaquez Gardner.
Gardner was on parole for a November 2019 conviction on a Class X felony offense of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Anyone with information on Gardner’s whereabouts are asked to contact Mt. Vernon Police at 242-2727.
