Mt. Vernon Police have obtained an arrest warrant for a 29-year-old Woodlawn man in connection with an early Sunday morning shooting at the Corner Tavern at 19th and Perkins.
Jaquez Gardner is being sought for first-degree murder and being an armed habitual criminal in connection with the death of a man who was transferred to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The victim’s name is not being released at the present time.
Garner was on parole for a November 2019 conviction on a Class X felony offense of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Mt. Vernon Police are asking anyone with information on Gardner’s whereabouts to call them at 242-2727.
