Natural gas problem leads to fire behind stove at Salem home

By Bruce Kropp Jun 25, 2021 | 7:18 PM

A natural gas leak is believed to be behind what appeared to be a flash fire behind the stove of a Salem home Friday afternoon.

Salem Firemen report there was no fire when they arrived at the Logan West home at 609 Prairie View Drive, but there was a discolored portion of the wall behind the stove where it appeared flames may have flared briefly.

The Salem gas department was called to check for a gas leak.

Odin Firemen were called to the scene for mutual aid, while Kell Firemen stood by at the Salem station in the event of another fire.

The call came in at 12:27 Friday afternoon.
