Odin School Superintendent Kim Briggs.

Even before officially beginning her work as Odin School Principal, Kimberly Briggs was hired as Superintendent last week. Briggs rapid advancement is the result of Sam Alli, who had been promoted to Superintendent, decided to take the job of Iuka Grade School Superintendent instead.

Briggs hopes the Odin School Board saw her leadership abilities and realized she was their best choice to become Superintendent.

She notes while she has never been a principal or superintendent, she has performed a number of their duties while working as the Special Education Coordinator Administrator at the North Clay Unit School District in Louisville.

Briggs says she begins work as Superintendent with a goal of doing what is best for kids. She wants to make the school a safe place, where students want to come.

Meanwhile, Briggs says interviews are now underway to hire a new principal, the job she was initially hired to perform.

The Odin School Board last week also hired Grant Carmen of Carlyle as the district’s new physical education, drivers ed, and health teacher.

The board was told 12 students of all ages are taking part in the summer school program this summer to try and make up losses due to the challenges of learning during COVID-19.
