Odin Firemen work to make sure a fire is out at 414 Penfield early Friday morning.

A bathroom fire damaged an Odin home early Friday morning. Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says the fire was at the Keena Williams home at 414 Penfield. She woke up to the smell of smoke and exited the home with her four children.

Firemen say upon arrival they could see flames in the bathroom and smoke coming from the front door and eves. They entered the home through the front door and got a quick knockdown. In addition to the fire damage that was confined to the bathroom and adjoining closet, there was smoke damage throughout the home. A number of ceilings also had to be pulled down to make sure the fire had not made its way into the attic.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.  A State Deputy Fire Marshal looked over the scene Friday morning without reaching any decision.

The fire call came in at 1:30 Friday morning, with firemen on the scene for about an hour and a half.  Salem Firemen provided automatic mutual aid assistance at the scene.  Sandoval stood by at the Odin station in the event of another fire.

The Red Cross was called to assist the Williams family with housing and clothing.
