DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — A central Illinois woman has been convicted of killing her 19-month-old son by smothering him in his bed one day after she did an internet search for “how do you suffocate?”

A Macon County jury found 27-year-old Jessica A. Logan guilty of first-degree murder Wednesday following a three-day trial in Jayden M. Comage’s death. The Herald & Review reports the Decatur woman will be sentenced on July 21.

Prosecutors portrayed Logan as cold, calculating, and eager to claim a $25,000 life insurance policy she held on her son. Prosecutors say the day before his October 2019 death, Logan searched Google on her cellphone for “How do you suffocate?”
