The combined Salem-Centralia Relay for Life is set for Saturday night in the north Centralia High School Parking Lot.
The theme this year is “One County…One Mission…to Eliminate Cancer”. The goal is $25,000.
The Salem and Centralia Relay groups have been combined this year by the American Cancer Society due to staff reductions as a result of COVID-19 effects.
This will be a different style of a Relay For Life as it is organized similarly to a drive-in movie. You can listen to the program from your vehicle or bring your lawn chairs to sit beside your vehicle. If you leave the area around your vehicle you must wear a mask due to American Cancer Society national guidelines. So please bring a mask to visit the food and activity booths!
To attend relay, please enter the Centralia High School parking lot at the north entrance off of Airport Road. It does not have a street name but will be marked with a Relay For Life banner. The front entrance is only for Emergency Services to line up for their parade.
There will be a Luminaria Walking path this year which is available to walk through all during the evening. Due to safety reasons, all Luminaria will be pre-lit for participants prior to the ceremony. Luminaria are being sold by Teams and may be purchased online now or in-person Saturday.
To make an online donation, visit our website at www.relayforlife.org/marionsalemil or www.relayforlife.org/marioncentraliail.org Donations may be made to any of the Teams at Relay on Saturday. It is never too late to start a Team and you can register online on their website or in-person Saturday night.
For up-to-the-minute information about Saturday’s Marion County Relay For Life, look for their Facebook event page Relay For Life of Marion County Drive-In! Information is also on our social media pages on Facebook: Salem Illinois Relay For Life and Relay For Life of Centralia.
The Relay for Life is encouraging everyone to attend. It is free and open to the public. It is a pet-free, alcohol-free, smoke-free event. The Relay Teams are excited to see you all in person this year after limited no-contact events last year. Bring a mask, lawn chairs, come hungry and visit all the booths! Together we can all help eliminate cancer!
