Salem man faces multiple charges after firing BB gun at deputy responding to domestic call

A 30-year-old rural Kell man is in custody after allegedly firing a BB gun or air soft gun at a Marion County Sheriff’s Deputy responding to a domestic call for help.

Joshua Wesselman of Foxville Road was eventually arrested for alleged unlawful restraint, resisting a peace officer, and threatening a public official.

Sheriff’s officials say they initially responded to a 911 call of a female seeking help during a domestic dispute at a home in the 5400 block of Route 161 Extension in rural Kell.

The male had reportedly left the home by the time the first deputy arrived. A second deputy arrived to a person, later identified as Wesselman, allegedly firing a BB gun. Deputies, who were joined by Salem and State Police, eventually located Wesselman in the back yard of the home. He was taken into custody after allegedly being tased, but reportedly was still resisting.

At one point, Wesselman allegedly threatened to shoot both deputies who responded leading to the threatening a public official charge.

The 9-1-1 call was placed at 9:07 Sunday night.
