A 41-year-old former Worship Minister at the Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia has been sentenced to 14 years in prison after his four-year probation on five counts of child pornography was revoked.

Ian Maphet had earlier pleaded guilty to a petition to revoke his probation for using the internet to connect to two dating sites.  Provisions of his original sentence of four years’ probation allowed him to only use the internet to try and obtain employment.

Judge Ericka Sanders sentenced Maphet to seven years on each of two of the counts with the time to be served consecutively for a total of 14 years.   She then sentenced Maphet to five years apiece on three other child pornography charges.  The time on those three charges will be served concurrently to each other and to 14-year prison term.  Maphet will have to complete one year mandatory supervised release when getting out of jail. He received credit for 61 days already served in the Marion County Jail.

Maphet and his mother both testified before the court at the sentencing hearing.  Maphet indicated he had learned a lot to become a better person while serving probation.

Judge Mark Kelley had warned Maphet when first placing him on probation that he would likely go to prison with any violations.

Maphet was first arrested in October 2023 following an investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that picked up child pornography activity in the Centralia area.  He was terminated at the church after they reviewed the initial evidence with State Police.
