The Salem Fire Protection District was called to the J Chapman home at 219 West Church on Saturday night after something caught fire in the toaster.
Firemen say there were no flames showing upon their arrival, but there was smoke in the home. They used an ejector fan to clear the home of smoke.
There was no fire damage reported.
The call came in at 7:35 Saturday night.
