The City of Salem, Kaskaskia College, and WJBD-WSIQ Radio are joining hands to try and help industries and businesses in the community fill more than 250 jobs.
The lack of employees have caused some businesses to have to cut hours or put off planned expansions.
Salem Economic Development Director Tabatha Meador says the event has been planned at the Salem Education Center on West Whitaker Street from nine to noon on June 16th.
“We’ve got 18 employers that have signed up representing about 250 open positions within the city of Salem. I think this will be a good day for people to come out who are looking for a job or a different position to explore what positions are available within the city. We do have a couple employers that are outside of Salem but primarily they are within Salem.”
Meador says there should be something for those of all skill levels.
“There are jobs of every experience level. Additionally Kaskaskia College will be there representing some technical programs that they have as well as BCMW and their Career Readiness Program. So there is information for anybody that is interested.”
Meador says employers in the Salem area who have not yet signed up can do so by contacting her at Salem City Hall.
