The Odin Firemen’s Picnic has been rescheduled for this weekend and will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this year. Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says they are hoping for a large crowd this year after the event had to be canceled due to COVID-19 concerns last year.
“Excited that we are going to get to have the carnival back again. Friday night we are going to have live entertainment with Cody Phillips playing with Levi Lloyd. Then on Saturday night we will do fireworks just like always around 9:30-9:45 and Melrose Pyrotechnics is going to that for us. Then Sunday afternoon we will start off with the car show and sound off and a lot of food. Carnival rides will be operating Sunday as well.”
Smith says the carnival and midway will be in operation from six pm to ten pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evening.
The firemen are requesting cakes, cupcakes and pies for the cakewalk. You can contact Smith or village hall for pickup.
Smith says money is not earmarked to any particular item this year after the department received a grant to upgrade their helmet, boots, and other equipment to current standards. He reports money will be held back for communications updates.
