A State Police Accident Reconstructionist has been called in to try and determine how a single-car wreck in Alma occurred that injured all four teenagers inside.
Initial indications from emergency personnel on the scene are the car was northbound on High Street when it lost control, hit an elevated section of sidewalk near a culvert which turned the car sideways, and sent it airborne across Seventh Street where it appears to have rolled before coming to rest on its wheels in the 200 block of 7th Street.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports a 15-year-old juvenile boy from Alma was apparently driving the vehicle.
All four juvenile males in the vehicle were injured. Two were transferred to St. Louis Hospitals, one from the helipad of Salem Township Hospital and the other from Leckrone Field. The other two were treated at Salem Township Hospital.
Both Kinmundy-Alma and United Medical Response sent ambulances to the scene. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department handled the initial investigation into the crash which was reported at 1:30 Monday morning.
