COVID-19 death reported in Jefferson County

The Illinois Department of Public Health has announced an additional COVID-19 related death in Jefferson County. The case involved a female in her 70’s. It was one of 42 additional deaths being recorded on Thursday. There was also a death reported in Richland County.

Statewide, only 891 new cases were reported. The statewide seven day positivity rate has fallen below two percent and is now 1.9-percent.

The Marion County Health Department reported no new cases on Thursday.

There are currently 17 active cases in the county, with no one in the hospital. The county’s current weekly positivity rate is at nine-tenths of a percent. The Southern Illinois Region is at 1.3-percent.

Jefferson County is reporting one new case on Thursday, with ten currently in isolation.
