The Salem Fire Protection District reports a fire behind the range hood of an apartment at 37 Glenwood Acres occupied by Keith Wiedemann was apparently caused by an electrical problem.
The first Salem Police Officer on the scene used a fire extinguisher to knock down the blaze.
The fire department ejected smoke.
