Marion County Health Department reports five new COVID-19 cases

The Marion County Health Department is reporting five new COVID-19 cases over the past two days.  None of the cases were long-term care residents.   One was a student who was not in school during their infectious period.  Two of the cases are considered community spread and three were apparently spread from household or close contacts.

There are now 15 active cases currently in isolation and no hospitalizations.  Four have been released from isolation in the past two days.

The Clinton County Health Department is reporting no new cases.  There are 12 on home isolation and one who is hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting two new cases and 23 currently in isolation.

Statewide, 1,542 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Thursday, and 42 additional deaths.  None of the deaths were in South Central or Southern Illinois.  The statewide positivity rate has dropped to 2.2-percent.
