An outdoor graduation ceremony is set for outside South Central High School for both graduating seniors and eighth graders on Friday night.
There will be 45 high school graduates led by Valedictorian Madisen Nannini and Salutatorian Jessica Blomberg. The 60 members of the 8th grade graduating class are led by Valedictorian Savannah Arnold and Salutatorian Kaitlin Swift.
Superintendent Kerry Herdes says the graduation will be similar to last year, but more guests will be allowed outside of vehicles.
“We are allowing each student to have 6 guests for both the 8th grade and senior graduation. It looks like to me we can allow the senior graduation just based on sheer numbers to maybe be expanded to 8 guests. It’s outdoors and we know we can do social distancing and cluster those families together. We had great success with people driving in and people wanting to do that again this year so we are trying to do that again.”
The South Central Middle School Graduation will begin at six, followed by the High School Graduation at seven. The South Central School Board has received a four year letter of intent to retire from Middle School Principal Greg Grinestaff. He has held that position for 16 years and will have been in the South Central School District for 25 years at the time of his retirement in four more years.
