There are now 9,811 Marion County residents who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 representing 26-percent of the population.   That compares to the statewide average of 38-percent.

Marin County Health Department Administrator Melissa Mallow says the demand for vaccinations has slowed greatly and those who want the Moderna or Johnson and Johnson vaccine at the Salem office of the health department can make a same-day appointment.  She notes while the health department is not giving Pfizer vaccines that can be given to those age 12 and up, they are available from the SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Group, at Walmart pharmacies, and several other locations.

The Marion County Health Department is reporting three new cases over the weekend and on Monday and Tuesday.  None were long-term care residents and one was a student who was not in class during their infectious period.  One of the cases is considered community spread and the other two were spread from household or close contacts.   There are now 14 active cases in isolation and none of who are hospitalized.  Nine have been released from isolation in the past four days, including six residents of a long-term care facility that has been on outbreak status.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting six new cases on Tuesday with 27 currently in isolation.

Washington County is reporting one new case on Monday and Tuesday, with five active cases and one hospitalized.

Statewide, 1,495 new cases were reported on Tuesday along with 21 additional deaths.  None were in South Central or Southern Illinois.  The seven-day statewide positive rate has fallen to 2.3-percent.
