The Salem Community Thanksgiving Dinner has been set.

It will be held on Saturday, November 14th, at the Salem Apostolic Church at Mills Cart and Airport Road.  The dinners are available for everyone, with takeout, drive-thru and indoor seating options.  Chris Watkins who is coordinating the dinner for SWAG, the Apostolics of Salem, and the Odd Fellows Lodge says it costs about $3,000 to put on the meal and they are in need of donations to cover the cost.

“We’re going to have either turkey or chicken this year,” Watkins said. “Turkey prices have jumped up a lot, and our budget is not ready for that right now. We wish everybody would come in with donations. Cash donations would be awesome for the Apostolic Church or the Grace United Methodist Church so we can get this rolling. Right now, money is tight for everyone, and we understand that.”

If you want to get on the list for deliveries, please contact Maureen at 630-362-7460.   You can also request a blanket if in need.

“We have boxes out also for blankets and toys, for people who would love to donate their gently, slightly used blankets or new blankets. We have drop-off places at Yardley Automotive, Peoples State Bank, Wal-Mart, Dollar General, Treasure Creek, Salem Township Hospital, and Marion County Horizon Center.”

Each child attending the Christmas on Broadway program on the first Saturday in December on Sweney Corner will receive a toy as long as they last.
