Michael Edward Hunt Sr., born on August 17, 1970, in Springfield, IL, passed away on October 26, 2026, at the age of 56. He is the son of Joseph Vernon Hunt and Linda Faye (Erwin) Tyler. On September 26, 1999, he married Malinda Gumm, and she survives in Centralia.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Malinda Hunt of Sandoval; his sons, Michael Hunt Jr. of Kinmundy and Jerrod Hunt; and his daughters, Christina Kubina and husband Shawn of Louisiana, Chasta Large and husband David of Minnesota, and Carolyn Fisher and husband John of Marion. Michael was a beloved grandfather to Gracey, Kiley, Logan, LunaFaye, Shelia, Emily, and Johnny.
Michael spent his career working in the paint department at GBD Factory, where he was admired for his dedication and hard work. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, such as listening to music on his favorite radio station, WDML, and finding joy in both smoking and mowing grass. With a toolbox at hand, Michael was a handyman at heart, always ready to lend a hand to a friend in need. Michael was known for his joyful spirit, love for family and knack for tinkering with anything that needed fixing.
In honor of Michael’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no public service at this time.
