Sharon Rae (Pritchett) Anderson, 80, of Fairfield, Illinois, passed away at 6:03 a.m. on October 24, 2026, at her home. She was born July 16, 1946, in Jefferson County, Illinois, to the late Ray Pritchett and Patsy (Braddy) Tolley. Sharon married Miles Eugene Anderson on July 21, 1980, and he preceded her in death on October 18, 1995.
Sharon is survived by her stepmother, Midge Pritchett of Litchfield, Illinois; brother, William “Bill” Pritchett of Sikeston, Missouri; sister, Debbie (David) Sinks of California, sister-in-law, Brenda Pritchett of Herrin, Illinois, cousin, Charla (Herb) Haney of Ewing, Illinois; children, Kevin (Robin) Shelton of Opdyke, Illinois, Kipp (Valerie) Shelton of Fairfield, and Kyle (Stacey Harrison) Shelton of Fairfield; grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Greenwalt of Wayne City, Illinois, Brandon Shelton of Breeze, Illinois, Bethany Shelton of Iowa, Kaycie Shelton of Opdyke, Chloe King of Opdyke, Nick (Vanessa) Cowden of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and Kayla Cowden of Opdyke; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her stepfather, Delbert Tolley; brother, David Pritchett; aunts, June (Max) Newton and Betty (Charlie) Owens; and cousin, Carmen (Marvin) Webb.
Sharon dedicated many years of her life to working as a Licensed Practical Nurse, a role that was far more than a profession to her, as caring for others was her true calling. She was a passionate world traveler who even had the rare opportunity to meet the Pope. Sharon lived a life full of adventure that most only dream of. Above all, she will be forever remembered as a devoted mother, a loving grandmother, a dear sister and aunt, and a wonderful friend to many.
A Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Reagan officiating. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Memorials may be made in Sharon’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association.
