A rural Iuka man had his foot trapped under the deck of a riding lawn mower for 20 t0 30 minutes before Iuka Firemen arrived to free him late Thursday afternoon.
Bill Cash of Cash Road north of Iuka was then taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of apparent minor injuries.
Iuka Fire Chief Kenny Eagan says the zero-turn mower was still running and spinning after hitting a pole when they arrived on the scene. Fortunately, the blade of the mower was not engaged. After turning off the mower, firemen were able to help Cash stand up. He was then able to remove his foot.
Iuka Firemen received the call around four Thursday afternoon.
