The Odin School held their first ever pumpkin drop on Friday.  Nine classes competed by packaging their pumpkin in a box in hopes it could survive a 50 foot drop from a helicopter without cracking.

Only one did, the K-3 Special Education Class taught by Samantha White.  The winning box design had their pumpkin, named Rex, suspended in a rubber band cradle.  Parachutes were also attached in an effort to slow the fall, but they were not effective.  For having the winning entry, Ms. White’s class will be treated to a pizza party.

A helicopter donated by Chad Eagan was used to drop the pumpkins.

Superintendent Quinton Marcum says it was a fun morning with the entire student body waiting to see how their pumpkin packaging design held up during the 50 foot drop.  He says PTO President Kayla Benzing came up with the idea.
