The Sandoval Village Board has hired a new public works director, but she’s not an unfamiliar face.

Kaitlyn Young will take the place of Phil Milano who is retiring at the end of the year.   The two will work together for the last two months of the year to assure Young is ready to handle the water, sewer, and street departments.

The board hired Vector Construction to get the bees out of a wall at the library building.  The bees have a large and growing nest that produced a loud buzzing sound in the library at times.   The concern is the bees will find their way into the library building causing issues especially to those allergic to bees.

The board agreed to surplus a vacant lot at 207 Isle to clear the way for it to be sold if they haven’t already done so.  Two people were at Tuesday night’s meeting with an interest in purchasing the lot.

Action on all pending tax increment financing district projects was tabled until next month to allow for the board to consult with its TIF consultant.

The board has finalized plans for its Halloween and Homecoming Parade at three Friday afternoon, October 30th.  Sandoval grade school students will parade in their costumes while the high school homecoming court will participate.   There will also be vendors, food and refreshments available from two to six in front of the village hall.   Trick or treating in Sandoval will follow from six to eight Friday night, October 30th, for those 12 and under.

Memorial trees will be available for purchase in the vending area.

Meanwhile, Christmas in the Village has been set for Friday, December 11th, from five to eight.   The tree lighting will be at 7:30 pm.
