A 62-year-old Centralia woman has been ordered held without bond after being charged in Marion County Court on Thursday with aggravated battery to a peace officer, disarming a peace officer, and resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
Terri Walton of Hester Street allegedly attempted to take a handgun away from an officer as he attempted to lead Walton into the Wamac Police Station. She is also accused of aggravated battery for allegedly kicking the officer in leg and resisting for allegedly refusing to be handcuffed.
The series of incidents began when Wamac Police were called to the Blue Goose Liquor Store to remove her as an unwanted person.
The court found disarming a police officer is a detainable offense and that Walton presented a real and present danger to the public as a result of her behavior at the time of arrest.
A public defender was appointed to represent Walton. She is due back in court for a first appearance with her attorney and a preliminary hearing on November 10th.
