The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced the northbound exit ramp from Interstate 57/64 to Illinois 15 (exit 95) in Mt. Vernon will close beginning at 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, as part of the ongoing diverging-diamond interchange project at the Illinois 15/I-57 interchange.
During the closure, motorists should use exit 94, at Veterans Memorial Drive. A signed detour will direct outbound traffic along Veterans Memorial Drive and 45th Street before reconnecting with Illinois 15.
The closure is expected to remain in place through Oct. 31.
Motorists should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are urged to reduce speed, be alert for changing conditions, obey all construction signage, and refrain from using mobile devices while approaching and traveling through the work zone.
