Rodney E. Cruise, 55, of Salem, Illinois, passed away at his home on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
Rodney was born on April 11, 1971, in Salem, Illinois, the son of Jerry Cruise and Mary Lee (Helm) Cruise.
Rodney worked as a food inspector for the Illinois Department of Agriculture for many years. He also proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
Rodney enjoyed spending time outdoors and especially loved gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lee Cruise of Salem; three children, Jerica Cruise of Miami, Florida, Joseph Cruise of Mt. Vernon, and Chance Cruise of Mt. Vernon; a half-brother, Paul Cruise and wife Emma of New York; two nephews; and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Cruise.
A graveside service will be held at 1880 Lovell Grove Cemetery in Omega at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, with Denise Burke officiating. Crouse Funeral Home in Salem is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
