A 20-foot camper trailer in Central City was destroyed by fire Saturday morning. Centralia Fire Protection District firefighters responded to 137 North Morrison after Central City police officer Brody Meigs found the camper burning behind the residence.
The fire is believed to have been started from a nearby brush pile fire that had spread and went unnoticed. The owner, Perry Hixenbaugh, planned to scrap the camper, although he said it had new tires he wanted to save.
No one was injured; Central City Police and a Life Star Ambulance were also on scene.
Centralia Fire Protection District units responded to two more fire alarms early Saturday evening. The first at 1300 N. Beech was to a mobile home where an electrical outlet had caught fire and the residents thought it was spreading to the wall.
The fire was contained to the outlet, but Life Star transported a resident to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of a medical condition.
During that call, CFPD units responded to a residence in the 2300 block of Meadow Lane after a fire alarm sounded. Firefighters determined that the alarm had malfunctioned and there was no fire.
