Centralia Chamber of commerce Executive Director Marcus Holland is asking the city council to approve use of Fairview Park for Ballon Fest again next August and future years.
Holland notes the request comes following feedback and the success of this year’s event.
The request includes use of the park for the week leading up to the event and the event feee of charge. The chamber will provide insurance coverage.
The chamber moved the event this year from Foundation Park when differences over electrical improvements could not be reached.
The council will be asked to enter an agreement with Wabash Communications to use city right away to install fiber optic cable to provide internet services on both the east and west side of the Centralia.
A new agreement to sell water to Wamac will come before the council. Like other outside water customers the rate will be $4.26 per thousand gallons with a rate adjustment each July first based on the consumer price index.
The council is recommending Milano and Grunloh Engineers of Effingham complete Phase two engineering work on new sidewalks on Country Club Road.
The council will also be asked to approve a $500,000 li e of credit with Midland State Bank.
The meeting gets underway at six Monday night at Centralia City Hall.
